Dr Paul Knight elected Honorary Secretary of RCPS Glasgow

The BGS congratulates Dr Paul Knight who, on 7 December 2004, became the Honorary Secretary of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr Knight said of his election: "I consider it a singular honour to have been elected to this important post. This is especially the case when post-graduate medical education is undergoing such enormous changes. I am looking forward to working closely with our current President (the well known neurosurgeon Professor Graham Teasdale) on such issues as Modernising Medical Careers and clinical standards. I am also aware that I am treading in the footsteps of some eminent geriatricians and I hope I can do as good a job".

Both Sir Ferguson Anderson and Dr Brian Williams, past presidents of the BGS, held executive office in the Glasgow College. Dr Knight was previously chair of the Training Committee in the 1980's and latterly has been Secretary of BGS Scotland and the UK Policy Chair of the BGS. He is currently Clinical Director of Medicine for the Elderly in North Glasgow and Secretary General of the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society.
