Following recent changes within the Committee, the regions within
England are invited to nominate two members to serve on the Academic &
Research Committee.
The procedure is as follows:
- Members
from each region submit nominations to their Regional Secretary.
- Members
present at a regional meeting choose the region’s candidate(s)
for office from amongst the names submitted.
- Regional
nominations are then sent to the BGS office.
- A ballot
is held amongst the members of the English Council which determines
the two appointments. These become effective after the AGM on 8 October
2004.
Regional
Secretaries are responsible for ensuring the following:
- A notice
calling for nominations is sent to all regional members giving ample
time to enable members to submit names.
- Members
may select their regional nominations by e-mail, postal ballot or at
a regional meeting. These should be forwarded to BGS office no later
than
1 September 2004. Submission of names via email is perfectly acceptable.
Members
of the Academic & Research Committee serve a three year term (2004
to 2007).
Should any
member or Regional Secretary have any queries, please contact Alex Mair
at the BGS office (Email: info@bgs.org.uk).
