Flexible Masters Programme Postgraduate Award in Diabetes and the Older Person 22 -26 Nov 2004 Centre
for Health Services Studies

This
PGA Programme (20 CATS points at level 4) is aimed at Healthcare Professionals
wishing to develop and enhance their knowledge and application of the principles
of Diabetes and the Older Person in the workplace.
The course structure involves: - Day 1: Ageing, glucose tolerance & metabolism, epidemiology and prevalence in older populations, diagnosis and methods in older people. Day
2: Functional assessment of older people, cognitive function
assessment, complications and Day 3: Diabetes treatment issues in the elderly, metabolic and vascular risk assessments. Day 4: Models of care, organising local services for older people with diabetes. Day 5: Diabetes in care homes, education of staff, care plans and care structure. Consisting of lectures, seminars, tutorials and home study. Can form the module of the Warwick Masters Programme in Diabetes (MClinSci, MA, MSc).
