|
| I am pleased to announce that the DVD “A Brief History of Geriatric Medicine in the UK”, by Prof John Brocklehurst, premiered at the North Western Branch of the BGS during September, is now on sale. The proceeds will be donated towards the charity Research into Ageing. The current Chairman of this group in Manchester is former President of the BGS, Prof Arup Banerjee. John Brocklehurst is still active within the RIA. In this DVD, John describes, from a personal point of view, the origins and development of geriatric medicine in the UK It is not meant to be a comprehensive account. The foreword is by Dr Jeremy Playfer and the main body of the presentation is in four parts, where Prof Brocklehurst is interviewed by Dr Gonsalkorale. Prof Brocklehurst refers to many of the pioneers of our specialty, going on to describe the development of psychogeriatrics and academic geriatric medicine. He gives a brief account of the history of the BGS, ending with an overall summary and his vision of the future. Throughout the DVD, John utilises archived pictures which he has collected over the years. This should be compulsory viewing for all aspiring geriatricians in training.
Originally on sale at £10.00 plus £1.00 p&P, it was felt that £15.00 is not too much to ask for, in support of an excellent cause! The DVD is in a standard black DVD case and has been professionally produced from the Master I made. How to obtain a copy
