Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI)

Leaving Hospital - Revisited

In 2004, the CSCI published a report on the problem of delayed discharge from hospital. A follow up report: Leaving Hospital - Revisited, looks at the experiences of older people after leaving hospital, revealing that decisions that are made at the time of discharge from hospital can have long-term consequences. The report finds that very few people who go into residential care at this time return to their own homes, and that older people are less likely to need residential care if the right support and rehabilitation is offered to them on leaving hospital.

Geriatricians and other health professionals are invited to give their views on the CSCI website

Do you use care services or know someone who does? Take part in a survey on the Commission for Social Care Inspection's (CSCI) website and you could win £50.

CSCI's job is to inspect and report on care services - like care homes and home care services - and local councils in England.

As part of its aim to put people who use care services first, CSCI is planning some big changes to its website.

"We want our website to give more useful information to people who use care services and their families and carers. And we want to make it easier to use," says CSCI web editor Ben Thompson.

You can help CSCI make their website better by taking part in a survey on their website. As a bonus you also can enter a prize draw to win £50.
