Health Secretary Alan Milburn, together with Ian Philp, National Director for Older People’s Services and Harry Cayton chief executive of Alzheimer’s Society recently launched a major project to improve the care of people with dementia across the North East, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Under a new Dementia Services Collaborative, GPs and staff from community health services, hospitals and social services will join forces with the voluntary and independent sector to make it easier for people with dementia to get help. It will also give people with dementia and their carers a chance to have their say on what services they need.
