Marjory Warren at work

Dear Sirs
With this letter, I enclose two pictures of Dr Marjory Warren, when she was working with a haemoplegic patient at 01 Ward (West Middlesex Hospital. Isleworth – May 1960).Marjory Warren-2

In those days, I was doing my training under her supervision and under Dr J Kaminski, her Assistant. Dr Marjory Warren was Vice-Superintendent Medical Director of the hospital and Chief of the Geriatric Unit. She was an extraordinary person and a great geriatrician with a huge humanistic feeling.

Through her I could meet Dr Trevor Howell and in that way, I was trained under his supervision as well. I am proud and happy to have worked alongside her in her daily work and even accompanying her on private domiciliary visits. The best thing that happened to me!

Because I took these pictures, I wish the British Geriatrics Society to keep them at Marjory Warren House. They are a good remembrance of a real pioneer of the modern geriatric world.Marjory Warren-1

Happy Christmas and success in New Year 2009!

Sincerely yours,

Dr Rafael Basagoitia Aviles
