Momentum continues to gather among the members of the Nurse Consultants’ Group as we become increasingly engaged within the British Geriatrics Society.
The BGS is putting out a press release to publicise the group and, hopefully, to attract more members. The release will appear shortly in several nursing journals and may be published via Royal College of Nursing channels. In addition, Wendy Barker (and hopefully a couple of other volunteers) will make themselves available to be interviewed for articles in “Geriatric Medicine” and in the “Nursing Times”.
Contributions to the BGS Newsletter
We are most encouraged by the willingness and calibre of authors who will be contributing to this column in the BGS Newsletter. We are expecting for the short to medium term future, to restrict articles to those presentations delivered at our Nurse Consultant meetings. Thanks to Wendy Barker who has provided this issue’s paper on enhancing independence and quality of life.
Brighton Spring Meeting
As most readers will know, the Nurses Group has a parallel session booked at the 2007 Spring Meeting Conference in April, in Brighton. The programme is being organised by Nicky Hayes who is looking for experts and lively speakers for the programme (we are trying to avoid “death by powerpoint”). If you or somebody you know fits this bill, please contact Nicky (through the email above or on tel: 020 3299 6056) by 20 November. You many nominate yourself or somebody else. Speakers need not be BGS members. Non-member speakers will have their travel costs, registration for the day, and one night’s accommodation refunded. Nicky is also looking for people to chair the session.
