Editors View articles to become open access
Readers will be aware that we already make one key article per issue “open access”. This means it is immediately free to read online or to download as a PDF for future reference. From 2009 we will also be making the Editor’s View articles “open access”, so potential subscribers to Age and Ageing can read the Editor’s summary of each issue.
Free online publication of colour figures
Authors will now be offered the option of colour reproduction of figures and images online at no extra cost; they will remain black and white in print.
Introduction of E-letters section to our website
The E-letter function will be added to the front page of our website for 2009. This electronic version of our printed Letters to the Editor page will allow readers to respond to papers published in Age and Ageing and discuss topical issues. We hope it will offer a more immediate form of correspondence, therefore sparking debate and promoting ideas for future articles.
The E-letter page will be moderated by Frazer Anderson and Katy Ladbrook.
Publication of abstracts supplements
Since the Editorial Board’s decision to publish abstracts of work presented at BGS scientific meetings online only, The abstracts of the Spring 2007 meeting are now available. The files for the Autumn 2007 meeting are with Oxford University Press and should be published very soon.
We apologise for the long lead time in publishing these abstracts. We hope to improve this during 2009. Our aim is to publish abstracts from the 2008 meetings in the first half of 2009. Please bear with us.
